Sometimes patients experience orthopedic pain or injury that needs immediate treatment but is not life threatening. This could include fractures, strains, sprains, painful or swollen joints, dislocations, sport injuries and more. Rather than dealing with the time and expense of going to the Emergency Room, patients opt for the more convenient alternative of an orthopedic urgent care center. It’s also a great option if your family physician is unavailable or your injury occurs outside regular office hours.
OINJ's Orthopedic urgent care center in Cedar Knolls provides personal, comprehensive care powered by the collaborative knowledge of our board-certified physicians, therapists and specialists. Together with your primary care physician, OINJ will develop the best plan of action for you.
While orthopedic urgent care centers have hours that extend past your primary physician’s, most are not available 24/7 like an emergency room. Furthermore, emergency rooms are equipped to handle injuries of all degrees of severity. Though many orthopedic urgent care centers offer diagnostic testing onsite to expedite the treatment process, they do not have the necessary setup for life threatening emergency care. For more serious orthopedic ailments—such as head trauma, deep lacerations, heavy bleeding, visible bones, open fractures and more—head to your nearest emergency room.
