One of our core values here at The Orthopedic Institute of New Jersey is to treat the whole patient, not just the injury or condition. So we’re happy to bring you a series of informative videos that can help your entire body. There are many ways to approach total health; here, we’ll give you a sample of some of the options available. We’re going to introduce you to CrossFit, the high intensity interval training group program that has swept the country. The regimen concentrates on building strength and speed, using movements that mimic or incorporate everyday challenges, performed at a higher level. Done in concert with other CrossFitters, the activity builds community and support networks along with muscle and aerobic capacity. We’re also going to preview Pilates for you. This program, which focuses on stabilizing and strengthening your core muscles, has a series of movements that are generally done in a specific order. You can perform these movements at home using just an exercise mat, or in a class with others, or in a studio that has specialized equipment. In fact, the flexibility of the program contributes to the growth of your own flexibility, since Pilates can be as portable as you want it to be. Of course, other things contribute to helping your muscles become stronger and more resilient. In fact, one of the biggest factors in total well-being is not what you do with your body — but what you put into it. We’re going to give you tips on proper nutrition for maintaining a healthy body. At OINJ, we want you to be in the best of orthopedic — and total — health. See our recent features here
