F.A.S.T. Procedure Now Available at The Orthopedic Institute of NJ

Jun 10, 2014

Hackettstown, NJ – The Orthopedic Institute of NJ recently announced the offering of a new procedure called FAST (Focused Aspiration of Scar Tissue), now available for patients with chronic injuries. The innovative FAST procedure was created by Tenex Health and developed in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic. It is a minimally invasive treatment that removes scar tissue from the elbow, knee and shoulder. Using ultrasound guidance to locate the diseased tissue in the tendon, the Tenex Health TX1 Microtip is inserted to break up and remove the tissue. The procedure takes about 15 minutes or less. While the FAST procedure was originally used for tennis elbow, it has been successfully used in hundreds of patients with scarred tendon tissue, such as runner’s knee, Achilles tendonitis, and plantar fasciitis.
